This is a classic margarita recipe, made a little more celebratory with the addition of champagne. I love it for New Year's or any extra-special occasion that calls for a little more "party" in the air. It's sour and sweet and bubbly. Delicious.
Notes:
CHAMPAGNE MARGARITA
Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces 100 % blue agave tequila, 1 ounce Cointreau, juice of 1/2 orange, juice of 1/2 lime, 2 ounces chilled champagne, agave nectar, 1 tbsp. coarse sea salt, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. gold sprinkles, and ice.
Makes 1.
1. Rim the glass: mix the sugar, coarse salt, and gold sprinkles on a plate. Dribble agave nectar over another plate. Dip the rim of the glass into the agave, followed by the sugar mix. Fill with ice.
2. To a cocktail shaker, add ice, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and orange juice (plus a little agave if you want your cocktail sweet). Shake vigorously.
3. Pour the mixture over the ice in the glass, to 3/4 full. Open the champagne and top it off with the bubbles. Serve immediately.
