Green sprinkles are in order, on top of classic crispy bars spiked with peanut butter. It's March, guys. These bars are ultra chewy, sweet but not too sweet, nutty and fun for kiddos and adults, alike. A few flicks of mini green M&Ms was a last minute decision, since PB and chocolate are basically lovers. Enjoy~
"Make sure to really compress the squares, they set better and cut cleaner."
Notes: Butter is unsalted. Peanut butter is natural, creamy.
LUCKY PEANUT BUTTER CRISPY SQUARES
Ingredients: 6 cups rice puff cereal, one 15 oz. bag mini marshmallows, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/4 cup butter, 3/4 cup peanut butter, pinch of salt, green sprinkles and or mini green M&Ms.
Makes about 20 squares.
1. Spritz an 9x13 inch square pan with cooking spray.
2. Heat butter in a large and deep saucepan over medium-low heat until butter is melted. Add marshmallows, and cook until just melted- don't turn up the heat- be patient.
3. Warm peanut butter in the microwave until slightly melted, almost runny. Fold into the melted marshmallows. Stir in vanilla and salt. Immediately add rice puff, stir quickly but gently to coat well.
4. Tip into baking dish. Spray hands with cooking spray, press firmly into an even layer. Sprinkle over sprinkles and or M&Ms. Lightly press down into the surface. Cool to set, 1 hour.
