THIS PUMPKIN SPICE PROTEIN SHAKE

I know it's not hard to make a shake. As the woman at the health food store recently snipped at my husband when he lamented he has a hard time eating a healthy breakfast. ("Uh, you could make yourself a smoothie...") She had a point, but sometimes I get so over blended drinks. That is until I discovered that my beloved protein powder brand released a pumpkin spice version. And truly, I am NOT a pumpkin spice fanatic. I always get irritated when I feel bombarded before fall actually starts. However, I tried this powder. I love it.

This protein shake has replaced drive-through coffee house versions for me, which is never a bad thing.

Store the leftover canned pumpkin covered in the fridge for up to a week, or make Pumpkin Dinner Rolls.

Notes: Pumpkin Spice protein powder is vegan, by Orgain; find it here. Milk is unsweetened vanilla almond milk. DF Whipped topping is by SoDelicious.

THIS PUMPKIN SPICE PROTEIN SHAKE

Ingredients: 1 cup frozen banana, 1 1/2 cups nut milk, 1/2 cup pumpkin, 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon + extra, one scoop pumpkin spice protein powder, DF/Vegan whipped topping.

Makes one.

1. Blend the first five ingredients together until very smooth.

2. Pour into a chilled glass, top with whipped topping, and more cinnamon.

TIP: Alternatively, use a vanilla protein powder and 1-2 tsp. of pumpkin spice, depending on your level of pumpkin-spice obsession.
